FAB Mirage 2000 fighter that is for sale costs less than a Renault Kwid

The FAB is selling the Mirage F-2000C/B fighters who retired in 2013. What draws attention to this is the price of the fighter jets, the cheapest costs around US$ 7.321,17 – about R$ 27.500, which costs less than a Renault Kwid, while the most expensive costs US$ $62.635,84 – about over R$235.

With everything, it is not possible to buy just one unit, only the complete batch of 11 fighters is negotiated by the FAB. Both legal and natural persons can buy the fighters, but an agreement must be signed and the approval of the French government is still required, since the fighters are manufactured in France by Dassault Aviation.

The French fighters were operational between 2006 and 2013 from ALA 2 (Anápolis-GO), the French deltas fulfilled several missions of fighter aviation, one of them being the protection of the federal capital, Brasília.

During the eight years of service, the deltas were the elite of the air force and until then the fastest fighter used by the FAB, being able to reach Mach 2.0 (something around 2.400km/h). One of its differences from its predecessor Mirage 3 (F-103) is its in-flight refueling capability, Fly-By-Wide commands, among others.

Currently, the Mirage house in Anápolis is “being frequented” by F-5EM/FM fighters that fulfill the missions of the 1st GDA, until the 36 Gripens NG (or F-39), reach ALA2 (expected to start arriving in 2021), the North American Tiger continued to be used in missions to protect the central highlands.

FAB's first Gripen NG made its maiden flight in August last year, in Sweden and is now undergoing a series of tests that are essential for the plane's success, tests that should take place here in Brazil later this year.
