Cuba's main airline, Cubana de Aviación, had to cancel a series of flights to Argentina after Argentine suppliers refused to sell fuel.
According to Reuters, the companies alleged concerns in the sale of fuel due to United States trade sanctions against Cuba, forcing Cubana to cancel a series of flights since last Wednesday (26).
"This decision is due to the refusal of aviation fuel supply companies in the Argentine Republic to provide services to the airline, invoking the provisions of the United States blockade measures against Cuba,” the airline said in a brief statement.
In recent years, Cubana operated several direct flights with stops to Buenos Aires when Argentina was presided over by the left-wing government of Alberto Fernández.
However, the proximity between Cuba and Argentina was shaken after the beginning of the government of Javier Milei, a libertarian considered by experts to be extreme direct and pro-United States.
Furthermore, there has been a trade embargo by the United States against Cuba since 1959, after Fidel Castro's revolution, in which there are commercial restrictions against the Caribbean country in the transitions in the acquisition of goods and services, also directly affecting foreign companies that want to trade directly with Cuba.
